    Edition: 2014
    / user per year

Content Description

What is this PAS about? Building information modelling (BIM) is an approach that enables different parties to collect and share information about the same built asset (building or infrastructure) in a common digital format. It’s a way to significantly reduce construction costs. This document is a free-to-download PAS on the use of BIM. This part specifies requirements once the construction phase of a built asset is completed and it’s in operation. Who is this PAS for? Asset managers Facilities managers Asset owners Designers Contractors Operations and maintenance service providers Software suppliers Why should you use this PAS? It gives asset managers guidance on how to integrate information management across the longer term activity of asset management with the shorter term activity of asset construction, for a portfolio of assets. It should deliver real savings, which come about in a variety of ways, including: Reducing costs as a result of the automated transfer of accurate, complete and unambiguous information at asset handover and during transfer of operation from one service provider to another Better awareness of the operational and maintenance needs of assets Better decisions regarding operation and maintenance expenditure based on actual asset performance and status Better organizational and strategic planning from more complete and accurate asset information, for example in the development of the health and safety file required by the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations Reducing management process costs arising from incomplete data
