Description of BS EN 60730-2-14:1997+A2:2008 2010This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 1.1 Replacement: This part of IEC 730 applies to electric actuators for use in, on, or in association with equipment for household and similar use for heating, air-conditioning and ventilation. The equipment may use electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, solar thermal energy, etc., or a combination thereof. This Part 2 applies to electric actuators using NTC or PTC thermistors, additional requirements for which are contained in Annex J. 1.1.1 This Part 2 applies to the inherent safety, to the operating values, operating times and operating sequences where such are associated with equipment safety and to the testing of electric actuators used in, on or in association with, equipment for household and similar use for heating, air-conditioning and ventilation. Requirements for specific operating values, operating times and operating sequences may be given in the standards for appliances and equipment. Throughout this Part 2 the word “equipment” means “appliance and equipment”. Electric actuators for equipment not intended for normal household use, but which nevertheless may be used by the public, such as equipment intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this Part 2. This Part 2 does not apply to electric actuators designed exclusively for industrial applications. EN 60730-2-1 is not applicable to electric actuators. This Part 2 does not apply to electric actuators which are mechanically integral with valves. See IEC 730-2-8, Particular requirements for electrically operated valves, including mechanical requirements and IEC 730-2-17, Particular requirements for electrically operated gas valves. This Part 2 does not apply to electric motors, requirements for which are contained in IEC 34. 1.1.2 Requirements for manual switches not integral with an electric actuator are contained in IEC 1058-1. 1.2 Replacement: This Part 2 applies to electric actuators with a rated voltage not exceeding 690 V and with a rated current not exceeding 63 A. 1.3 Replacement: This Part 2 does not take into account the response value of an automatic action of an electric actuator, if such a response value is dependent upon the method of mounting the electric actuator in the equipment. Where a response value is of significant purpose for the protection of the user, or surroundings, the value defined in the appropriate household equipment or as determined by the manufacturer shall apply. 1.4 Replacement: This Part 2 applies also to electric actuators incorporating electronic devices, requirements for which are contained in Annex H.
