Content Description

What is this standard about? This is Part 2 in a short series of British Standards giving topic-specific guidance on using the international occupational health and safety management system standard BS ISO 45001. It supplements BS 45002-0:2018 Occupational health and safety management systems. General guidelines for the application of ISO 45001 which supplies general guidance on implementing BS ISO 45001. This part of BS 45002 covers identifying and managing risks and opportunities in an OH&S management system. The other two topic-specific standards are: BS 45002-1:2018 Occupational health and safety management systems. General guidelines for the application of ISO 45001. Guidance on managing occupational health BS 45002-3:2018 Occupational health and safety management systems. General guidelines for the application of ISO 45001. Guidance on incident investigation Who is this standard for? It applies in all sectors and to organizations of any size or maturity implementing an OH&S management system, although it pays particular attention to the needs of small businesses. Why should you use this standard? This guidance document has been developed to provide additional, more in-depth and accessible information than that provided in BS 45002-0. Its use can help organizations meet the relevant requirements of BS ISO 45001. It provides plain language guidance for organizations implementing the OH&S management system standard, helping ensure that they understand the level of risk assessment required when applying ISO 45001. It mirrors the structure of the ISO standard to help users identify how they can manage their own risks and opportunities in line with the ISO 45001 requirements. It adds additional examples to give people a better idea of what might be a risk or opportunity. Organizations not yet ready to implement ISO 45001 but working towards it will also benefit from using this guidance.
