Description of ASTM-D6126 2011ASTM D6126 - 11Standard Specification for HFC-23 (Trifluoromethane, CHF 3 )Active Standard ASTM D6126 | Developed by Subcommittee: D26.09 Book of Standards Volume: 15.05 ASTM D6126Abstract This specification covers the test methods and requirements for HFC-23 (trifluoromethane, CHF 3 ) as a fire fighting medium. This specification, however, does not address the fire fighting equipment or hardware that employs HFC-23 or the conditions of employing such equipment (for example, handshields, fixed installations, etc.). It also does not address the storage or transportation of HFC-23. When analyzed by appropriate test methods, sampled specimens shall conform to requirements as to purity, acidity, water content, nonvolatile residue, and suspended matter or sediment. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. ASTM does not give any warranty express or implied or make any representation that the contents of this abstract are accurate, complete or up to date. 1. Scope 1.1 This specification covers the requirements for HFC-23 as a fire fighting medium. 1.2 This specification does not address the fire fighting equipment or hardware that employs HFC-23 or the conditions of employing such equipment (for example: handshields, fixed installations, etc.). 1.3 This specification does not address the storage or transportation of HFC-23 Storage handling, and transportation issues are addressed in Practice D6127 . 1.4 The values stated in both inch-pound and SI units are to be regarded separately as the standard.
