Description of ASTM-D561 2008ASTM D561 - 82(2008)Standard Specification for Carbon Black Pigment for PaintActive Standard ASTM D561 | Developed by Subcommittee: D01.31 Book of Standards Volume: 06.03 ASTM D561Abstract This specification covers the pigment commercially known as carbon black, which is suitable for use in the manufacture of protective or decorative coatings. The pigment shall be made by burning natural gas or oil in such a manner as to form a deposit of carbon. Tests shall be conducted in accordance with the following test methods: solvent extractable material; color and tinting strength; carbon black ash content; heating loss; and sieve residue. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application.
