Content DescriptionThis standard describes the use of anhydrous ammonia in the treatment of potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water. Anhydrous ammonia means free from water and is expressed by the formula NH3. The purpose of this standard is to provide the minimum requirements for anhydrous ammonia, including physical, chemical, sampling, testing, packaging, and shipping requirements. This standard can be referenced in specifications for purchasing and receiving anhydrous ammonia and can be used as a guide for testing the physical and chemical properties of anhydrous ammonia. Major changes made to the standard in this revision include: 1. Inclusion of a requirement for compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and other federal regulations 2. Inclusion of a requirement for tamper-evident packaging
