Historical Standard: ASTM E701-80(2005) Standard Test Methods for Municipal Ferrous Scrap
SUPERSEDED (see Active link, below)
ASTM E701
1. Scope
1.1 These test methods cover various tests for assessing the usefulness of a ferrous fraction recovered from municipal wastes.
1.2 These test methods comprise both chemical and physical tests, as follows:
SectionSampling Bulk Density Total Combustibles Chemical Analysis (for Industries Other Than the Detinning Industry) Magnetic Fraction (for the Detinning Industry) Chemical Analysis for Tin (for the Detinning Industry) Metallic Yield for All Industries Other Than the Copper Industry and the Detinning Industry1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
