Content DescriptionThis technical report provides guidance in assessing the reliability of a statement of measurement uncertainty in question, that is, in judging whether that stated uncertainty can be trusted to include the values that could reasonably be attributed to the measured quantity (measurand with which that stated uncertainty is associated. This report is most applicable to statements of uncertainty in the results of dimensional measurements based upon ISO Guide to Expression of Uncertainty in Meaurement (GUM. (Also called ANSI/NCSL Z540-2. This technical report helps parties to avoid potential, or resolve actual, disagreements over the magnitude of a stated measurement uncertainty, particularly when that uncertainty is part of a determination of conformity of a manufactured product to a dimensional specification.Subscription InformationMADCAD.com ASME Standards subscriptions are annual and access is single concurrency based (number of people that can access the subscription at any given time) from single office location. About ASMEASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods. Founded in 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists, ASME has grown through the decades to include more than 130,000 members in 158 countries. Thirty-thousand of these members are students. From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers and academic leaders, ASME's members are as diverse as the engineering community itself. ASME serves this wide-ranging technical community through quality programs in continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations and other forms of outreach. |
